The oldest known festive gathering of "Gentlemen educated at Ashford School" was held at The Saracen's Head Hotel on the 20th August 1776 when "Dinner was on the Table at Two o'clock"

Old Ashfordians' Annual Dinner 2018

Thirty members and guests attended the 2018 Dinner at the school.  This was the last Dinner attended by the Head Teacher and President, Ms S Staab. Attending from the school were Ms Staab, Mrs S Kelly (Deputy Head Teacher), Mr T Snare (Staff, organiser of the Dinner), Mr J Rice (Head Boy), Ms E Mulgrew (Head Girl), Mr L Miller (Deputy Head Boy) and Ms G Thackery-Lewington (Deputy Head Girl).

The Toast to the School was proposed by Mr T Snare (2006-2013).  He remarked on the monumental changes he has observed in the school both as a student and teacher, and paid tribute to the passionate and special staff at the school.  The Toast was responded to by the President.  She thanked the Old Ashfordians for their involvement with and commitment to the school.

The Toast to the Association was proposed by Mr J Rice (Head Boy), and was responded to by the Vice Chairman, Dr S Miller (1978-1983).  He paid tribute to the Preseident for her passion, vision and enthusiasm.  He also paid tribute to Professor G Petts (1964-1971), the former organiser of the London Dinner over many years, who passed away in 2018.

Old Ashfordians' London Dinner 2018

Twenty-three members and guests attended the 2018 London Dinner which was held once again at the Oxford and Cambridge Club.  Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mrs S Kelly (Deputy Head), Mr A de Rosa (Head Boy) and Miss V Fowler (Head Girl).  The Toast to the School was proposed by Mr A Kydd (2004-2001).  He remarked that education is not just about exams, but also includes independent knowledge and, above all, fun.  The Toast was responded to by the President, who spoke about the links between the school and its alumni, including the Alumni Day, the promotional film of the school produced by M Mortimore (1955 - 1962), and a trust established in memory of P Bromfield (1981 – 1986) to assist law students at the school.

The Toast to the Association was proposed by Mr A de Rosa (Head Boy).  He remarked that the school was now unrecognisable from the day he first arrived.  He was grateful for the opportunities as Head Boy including organising fund raising events and achieving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.  He paid tribute to those staff running the Duke of Edinburgh Awards at the school.

Thirty-three members and guests attended the 2017 Dinner at the school.  The evening was another great success.  Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mrs S Kelly (Deputy Head Teacher), Mrs S Moir (Business Development Manager), Mr T Snare (Staff, organiser of the Dinner), Mr A de Rosa (Head Boy) and Miss V Fowler (Head Girl).

The Toast to the School was proposed by Mr L Jones (2004 - 2011). He recalled how welcoming the school had been, and how he had received an excellent all round education.  He remembered fondly many House events including Music, Drama and the Penny Race.  The Toast was responded to by the President, who provided her usual update of events at the school.

The Toast to the Association was proposed by Miss V Fowler (Head Girl).  She remarked how the school was a great place to be at, how it encourages you to do new things, and that it pushes you to outside of your comfort zone.  She also paid tribute to the dedication of the hard working staff.  The Toast was responded to by the Treasurer, Mr G Hooker (1978 – 1983).  Greg spoke about the evolving relationship between the Association and the school, strengthened in part by holding the Dinner at the school.

Twenty-five members and guests attended the 2017 London Dinner at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London.  Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mr J MacLean, Mrs S Kelly (Deputy Head), Mrs S Moir (School Business Development Officer), Mr J Pryor (Head Boy) and Ms C Cooper (Head Girl).

Ms. C Cooper proposed the Toast to the Association.  She remarked that the school had provided many opportunities to her, and that, if you believe in yourself, anything can be achieved due to the school and its ethos. The Toast to the School was proposed by Mr J Grocott (2004-2011).  He stressed the importance of continuing relationships and ties between former pupils and the school, and the vital role Old Ashfordians can play in this.  The Toast was responded to by the President, who provided her regular update of events at the School. .

Thirty-seven members and guests attended the 2016 Annual Dinner at the School.  Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mrs P Bunnell (School Business Manager), Mrs S Moir (School Business Development Officer), Mr J Pryor (Head Boy), and Miss C Cooper (Head Girl).

The Toast to the School was proposed by The Hon. Secretary, Mr S Hallam (1984-1989).  The Toast was responded to by the President, who provided her usual update of events at the School.  The Toast to the Association was proposed by Mr J Pryor.  The Toast was responded to by Mr J Manuell (2005 - 2012), who had stood down as Social Secretary at the AGM, having served in the post during 2016.

Twenty-eight members and guests attended the 2016 London Dinner at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London.  This was the first Dinner at this exciting and impressive venue.

Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mrs S Kelly (Deputy Head), Mrs P Bunnell (School Business Manager), Mr H Triggs (School Captain), Mr S Grobler and Mr A Goncalves (Deputy School Captains).

The Toast to the School was proposed by Prof. G Petts.  The Toast was responded to by the President, who provided an extensive update of events at the School.  The School Captain and his Vice Captains provided an enthralling insight into their time at the School, after which the School Captain proposed the Toast to the Association.

Prof. Petts encouraged all members to support the School's NKS and 'Buy a Brick' appeals, further details of which can be found on the School's main website.

Twenty-four members and guests attended the 2015 Annual Dinner at the Masonic Hall in Ashford.  Attending from the School were Ms S Staab (President and Head Teacher), Mr J MacLean, Mr H Triggs (School Captain), Mr S Grobler and Mr A Goncalves (Deputy School Captains).

The Toast to the School was proposed by Mrs S Farrant (Staff 1990 - 2015).  The Toast was responded to by the President, who provided her usual update of events at the School.  The Toast to the Association was proposed by Mr H Triggs.  The Toast was responded to by Mr P Sibbald (1988 - 1993), who had stood down as Secretary of the Old Ashfordians at the AGM.
