Annual Fund

The Norton Knatchbull School Annual Fund

It is our belief at The Norton Knatchbull School that every student deserves to fulfil his/her potential. Whether strengths lie in the classroom, on the sports field, in the concert hall or on the stage, we want to be able to provide opportunities that will enhance students’ education, creating the leaders of tomorrow.

Our students enjoy a vast range of educational opportunities within and beyond the classroom. Some involve the continuing development of teaching and learning whilst others relate to challenging and enriching activities in music, sport, drama and other clubs and societies. There is a steadily increasing demand for us to spend money in many areas. Whilst public funding contributes to these, it cannot alone provide the facilities and opportunities we believe our students deserve. We seek to offer a quality of education normally associated with independent schools even though we only receive around one fifth of the funding per student. Our hope is that as many people as possible will be supportive of our Annual Fund so that students can benefit from new projects every year.

We aim to help all our students develop into well-rounded people with a love of learning. We want them to succeed to the very best of their abilities in the future. Gifts to our Annual Fund will help us create an environment in which our students can thrive, making an immediate and tangible difference to their education.

We hope that our Annual Fund will be supported by all parents by making a minimum donation of £30 each. If you are able to make a higher contribution, we would be incredibly grateful but whatever you can give will make a real difference to your child’s time at NKS. The money from the Fund supports the students in the year in which it is received and so your child will directly benefit. This year the Annual Fund will primarily be used to revamp the school library.

Many schools are reducing their libraries due to cost cuts however at Norton Knatchbull we feel it is an invaluable resource for our students and we want to invest in it to maximise the learning for the students. Our fiction stock is very tatty and dirty and copies need replacing, we also need to purchase newer more modern titles to encourage reading amongst the boys. Our non-fiction stock is very dated and we are currently weeding out textbooks that date back to the early 1990s and older. As GCSE and A-Level courses keep changing it is very difficult and expensive to keep up to date with textbooks.

With your support, we would like to replenish our books and some of our furniture to create a better learning space for the students of Norton Knatchbull

In addition to this, we will be allocating some of the money towards the upkeep of our minibuses, which can be expensive. The mini-buses are used by the majority of students, whether it be for school trips, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions or transporting the sports teams to various venues. Without this facility, we would have to rely on hiring transport or using public transport which means an additional cost to the students and the school.
