District Football Finals

Knatchbull won the Year 8, 9 and 10 Ashford and Folkestone District Football finals yesterday.  The games were played at Homelands in difficult weather conditions, but our boys played superbly well to ensure we won more trophies than any other school.  After a long hard season, all our players should feel very proud of their efforts this season, along with the dedication and commitment of our excellent PE staff.

Year 8.

Norton Knatchbull 1 v 0 Harvey GS

This was a very even game with few chances.  Both goal keepers made a good save to ensure the game stayed goal less until the winner came from a great 30 yard Free kick from Ben Wilkinson in the last 10 minutes to ensure this age group won the trophy for a second successive year.

Year 9.

Norton Knatchbull 2 v 2 Harvey GS         Knatchbull won on penalties

Again a very close game between Knatchbull and Harvey.  Harvey took a 1-0 lead through a defensive mix up by Knatchbull.  But a great response after half time and 2 good goals from Ed Milloy put Knatchbull 2-1 ahead.  However, we could not hold onto the lead and Harvey equalised with 10 minutes remaining.  However, our boys remained calm in the penalty shoot out and with Goal Keeper Lucas Hanley saving one and the Harvey played blazing over the bar with the last penalty it ensured Knatchbull were champions for the last 3 years with this age group.

Year 10.

Norton Knatchbull  5 v 2  John Wallis Academy

This was the best game of the day with end to end action and both goal keepers making great saves as well as the 7 goals that were scored.   Knatchbull deservedly were leading 2-0 at half time thanks to a well worked goal from Louis Pacquette and a goal from Josh McCarthy.  However, John Wallis responded well after half time and pulled it back to 2-2.  At that point it looked like John Wallis would go on and win the game, but the character shown and response from our boys was fantastic.  They defended well and then re took the lead with Christian Wilson winning the ball and crossing from the right for Josh McCarthy to score.  Then 2 fine strikes from Louis Pacquette in the last 10 minutes ensured a fantastic win for Knatchbull to be crowned Champions and made Mr Leonard a very happy man.
