NKS students attend Eton College History Summer School

James Rice and Saskia Cadell in Y12, are currently on an Eton College History Summer School course.  James has sent us an update of their activities so far. Eton College summer school is for students with ambitions to apply to the best universities in this country and abroad.

“Today we began with our first lesson in which we discussed our shortlists of top British figures. In the next session we had a short lecture on Brexit and British isolationism etc., and discussed a Hogarth painting, the opening to one of Macaulay's texts (which we analysed for homework) and an excerpt from Schama, and the image of Britishness. This afternoon we went through an Oxford History Aptitude Test, which is not fun. I now have a two hour homework to do, more fun, but I am enjoying myself and it's a good experience. We'll be having some field trips later in our stay. It's all very nice here, albeit with lots of work!”
