Politics students visit Westminster Central Hall

On Monday 3rd December, 15 Politics students from NKS visited Westminster Central Hall for an A-level conference.  In attendance were The Speaker of the House of Commons: the Rt Hon John Bercow MP, Sir Vince Cable MP, Nigel Farage MEP, the Rt Hon Emily Thornberry MP, Jess Phillips MP and Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, amongst others. The 10 political speakers had specific topics to talk about, but seldom did they stick to just these. Students from various schools from around the country asked questions about terrorism, alleged anti-Semitism in the Labour party, feminism, Brexit, abortion and whether or not 16 year-olds should have the right to vote.  The conference day gave us an in-depth insight into UK politics.  At lunch we strolled around Westminster towards the Houses of Parliament and spoke to the Brexit campaigners, calling for Theresa May and her government to “Change The Deal” or “Give a People’s Vote!”   I found the day very informative, exciting and educational.
