NKS performs at the Marlowe

"At a packed Marlowe Theatre on Wednesday 20th March, 25 actors and musicians, from Norton Knatchbull performed Act One Scene One of Romeo and Juliet, with the rest of the play performed by 10 Primary and  Secondary schools from across Kent.  What an event it was, and our students hit a very high level of performance, as anyone who was there could have told you.   Music was composed by  Mr Bailey and his students and interwoven into the action so the opening had a powerful impact.

I had staged the opening fight, rather unusually as a bull fight between two rival processions of the Montague and Capulets during the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.  The idea came from the Day of the Dead concept of Rebecca Morton, the production designer.  The fantastic bulls were made courtesy of Mrs Rowland and her sixth form students.  They certainly attracted plenty of attention.

We will be involved in another large scale production of a Shakespeare play next year so watch this space!"

Head of Drama.
