Sir Norton Knatchbull - 1637

SEND and Pupil Premium

At the Norton Knatchbull School we cater for all types of additional and special educational needs - defined as any type of barrier to learning which might affect a child’s ability to access the curriculum.

We work closely with the primary schools to ensure that information about any of these needs is transferred with the student. This enables us to plan ahead to meet individual needs as required.

If an additional or special need is identified we work quickly to ensure that we help the student in every way possible. This includes the use of outside agencies when appropriate.

We currently have four Learning Support Assistants working within the AEN department who support students in a variety of ways.

We monitor our students and change our provision accordingly to ensure that our students make the best possible progress. Teaching staff are provided with regular updates on students and have access to a wide range of resources allowing them to support students through high quality day to day classroom teaching with specific adaptions where appropriate.

If you have any questions regarding Special Educational Needs and Disability at the Norton Knatchbull please contact:

Introduced in 2011, the pupil premium is a sum of money given to schools each year by the Government to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children.  It is used to support students who face additional challenges in reaching their potential.  The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and it will be used by this school to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most

Our Pupil Premium Statement and Strategy can be found on the Policies page
